A woman stands in dawns light. There are clothes, perhaps yesterday’s clothes, strewn on the table that sits in front of her. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling with ease. Behind her, royal blue, soft curtains. Heavy in weight, heavy in texture. She stands gracefully, arms folded, shoulders tense. A painting hangs on the wall. There’s only half visible. It appears to be a person, perhaps a relative, perhaps someone in power, perhaps someone in power over her. She stares towards the painter, with a graceful half-smile on her face. The light comes in through the window on her right hand side, gently brushing her face, and filling the room with warmth. Warmth, seemingly, in the face of oppression. Is she the victim? The dress that she wears is elegant and victorian in nature. Is she a pioneer of freedom or a byproduct of the wealthy class? The life that she was born into? It is left only to speculation. A vase sits on the mantle. Watching the scene unfold, as she stands, solemn, graceful, elegant, but tense.
